Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has appointed María Cortina (Bilbao, 1962) as the company's Managing Director of Communication and Institutional Relations. Ms. Cortina, who is joining the group today, will head up the strategic areas of communication, institutional relations and corporate social responsibility.
Ms. Cortina's extensive professional track record in the world of communication dates back over three decades. A law graduate from Deusto University, she has worked as a financial reporter for several publications. She has also worked as press officer for the Secretary of State for Finance and held executive positions at Spanish blue chip companies such as Telefónica and NH Hoteles, where she was head of communication and institutional relations for over seven years. Since 2007, she has been running Siemens's Communication and Institutional Relations Department in Spain, a position she is leaving now to join Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, the company created in the wake of the merger between Gamesa and Siemens Wind Power.
